Ice climbing in Gastein

Climbing frozen waterfalls is one of the most appealing forms of mountaineering. Ice is fascinating and diverse. Hardly any other natural structure can be found as many forms and variations as ice. And that’s what makes it so interesting: You always discover something new. The ice cream is never like the day before or last year. The structure of the ice often changes within hours.

Thanks to my many years of work in the teaching team of the Austrian mountain guide training, I have a lot of experience and knowledge in the field of ice climbing. It would be my great pleasure to introduce you to this fascinating sport on your active holiday in Gastein.


Ice climbing for beginners

You will receive thorough training in the handling of ice axes and crampons as well as safety techniques. Learning by doing gives you the necessary security and familiarity in the waterfall.


Ice climbing for advanced

Always wanted to climb through a waterfall? Whether light or extreme, no problem: Your wish will be fulfilled in a rope team of two or three. All you need is crampon-compatible mountaineering boots and warm, breathable clothing; I provide modern ice equipment.

LVS safety training

Real scenarios are simulated with a mobile “Pieps Art” search station. To prepare yourself perfectly for freeriding or ski touring, visit an LVS training course in Gastein. The correct handling of your avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe is taught, and various search strategies are practiced. This makes an important contribution to greater personal responsibility and security.

Via ferratas in the Gastein Valley

Learning the right climbing technique, creating confidence in the equipment: We start on an easy practice via ferrata. After intensive training, we climb a via ferrata adapted to our ability on the Schlossalm.

Due to the easy accessibility via the Schloßalmbahn and the short access, this offer is equally suitable for adults and families and can be booked daily during the opening times of the gondola lift.
