Crossing the Bernese Oberland

On the Mönch over the SW ridge, Jungfrau, Großfischerhorn, Finsteraarhorn. Four imposing peaks in a unique setting.

Requirements:

• Very good condition 8-10 hours
• acclimatized for 4000 meters (arrive earlier to undertake high-altitude hikes)
• Safe crampon technique vertical, frontal approx. 45 °
• Experience in combined terrain II
• No fear of heights, surefootedness

1 day:

Meeting point at 5:00 p.m. at the Mountainhostel in Grindelwald Grund. Meeting, equipment check

Day 2: Mönch – Mönchjochshütte

With the first cable car up to the Jungfraujoch through the world-famous Eiger. Via the SW ridge III to the summit of the Mönch at 4110m. Descent via normal route to the hut 3659m . Very nice ridge crossing.

Day 3: Jungfrau – Mönchjochshütte

Early in the morning, in the light of the headlamps, we go down the Jungfraufirn a bit to the beginning of the pillar 3300m that leads to the Rottalsattel. We climb the beginning of the firn ridge, which leads us to the saddle, in a simple climb. Over steep firn fields and boulder terrain we reach the summit at 4158m. Via the same path we get back to the hut.

Day 4: Großfiescherhorn – Finsteraahorn hut

Via Ewigschneefeld to the saddle from point 3800m at the beginning of the NW ridge of Gr. Fiescherhorns. Over this firn ridge to the summit 4048m. Descent via Fieschersattel, Fiescherfirn to Finsteraarhornhütte 3048m.

• Walking time: 7-8 hours

Day 5: Finsteraahorn – Konkordia Hut

Behind the hut in a northerly direction first on trail tracks and later over glaciers to the Hugisattel 4088m. From the saddle, take the NW ridge II to the breathtaking summit of Finsteraarhorn 4273m. Descent like ascent. In the afternoon change to the Konkordia hut via Grünhornlücke.

• Walking time: 10 hours

Day 6: Konkordiahütte – Jungfraujoch – Grindelwald

Via Jungfraufirn back to Jungfraujoch 3500m and by train back to Grindelwald. Departure.
