Schareck 3,123 meters above sea level
The Schareck is a mighty, broad peak and an imposing mountain shape from all sides.
On the south side it is glaciated up to the summit (Wurtenkees). In addition to the Baumbachspitze, the mountain group also includes the Apere Schareck as well as the Herzog Ernst, the Neuenerkogel and the Riffelhöhe.
The tour starts at the Valeriehaus (1,580 m). From here it goes west into the valley into the Siglitztal and in bends over the H-Bahlsen-Weg to the Niedersachsenhaus (2,472 m). The approx. 3 km long ascent over the northwest ridge (Pröllweg) starts from the Niedersachsenhaus. Scenically very nice ascent on the watershed between Rauriser and Gasteinertal. On the way to the summit we cross the Neuenerkogel and the Herzog Ernst peak on the rope (difficulty I-II). Both are secured by a few short climbing systems (via ferrata)!
